Cuesta de la Villa has been a populated place since the times of the Guanches. The Guanches of Mencey Bencomo settled in this area, from the highlands to the coast, which is located near the “Cueva del Rey” (Cave of the King) or “Cueva de Bencomo”.

The El Pinito road runs through here, which was an improvement in communications connecting the municipality with La Orotava and Buenavista del Norte. The connection with the Villa de La Orotava did not help overcome the jurisdictional conflicts.

Cuesta de la Villa is a window to the Orotava Valley, but it has also been a meeting point, and the object of disagreement, of this municipality and the neighbouring one of La Orotava. It is in this area where one of the great debates between La Orotava and Santa Úrsula is lies, such as the Cueva del Mencey Bencomo, a cave that originally belonged to Santa Úrsula, but after the land division of the late nineteenth century was assigned to La Orotava.

To get here, we must take the Carretera General del Norte (TF-217) to KM-9, where we can leave the car in one of the parking spaces. From this point we can reach the site, which is close to an area with bars and restaurants. There, after contemplating the views, we can enjoy a delicious snack in this beautiful area.

The bus lines of Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (TITSA) to this place are numbers 380 (La Corujera – La Orotava – Los Realejos – Tigaiga) and 101 (La Orotava – San Cristóbal de La Laguna) using stops 4015 and 4218 for the Mirador de Cuesta de La Villa or 4014 and 4219 on line 101 and 4823 and 4878 on line 380 for the Mirador de El Pinito.
